BABY GOT BACK: SIZE QUEENS
/PERFORMANCE PIECE
"Baby Got Back: Size Queens" offered Shamita Siva an unforgettable role in what is described as a "Riot girl strip club." The show, acclaimed with 4 and 5-star reviews across national fringe festivals, brought together a diverse group of women to explore gender politics and the concept of women unapologetically taking up space. Shamita crafted a powerful and physically demanding routine that left her breathless each time.
This unique performance featured katana choreography, which Shamita learned specifically for the show, and a blend of dance steps inspired by warrior women from various cultures. In a creative twist, her act was a 'reverse' strip, starting with minimal garments and progressively adding more armor, challenging conventional norms and expectations.
Clips from this act are highlights in her movement reel, showcasing her versatility and commitment to pushing artistic boundaries.
